The first American Heart Month was established in 1964 because at that time, cardiovascular disease accounted for more than 50% of deaths in the United States. Today, cardiovascular disease is still one of the leading causes of deaths in the United States and the number 1 cause of death globally. At Lincoln Square Post-Acute Care, we know how important health is! We encourage everyone to raise awareness and to learn more about heart health.

Start taking steps towards a healthier heart with these tips from The American Heart Association:

  1. Use the calories that you take in.
Regular physical exercise is important to maintain healthy weight.
  2. Eat nutritiously, from all the food groups.
“Nutrient-rich foods have minerals, protein, whole grains and other nutrients but are lower in calories. They may help you control your weight, cholesterol and blood pressure.”

Don’t smoke.
